Lao Tzu I was on a plane the other day and right after they gave me my drink (which was filled right up to the top), the Captain announces fasten your seat belt, were about to hit some turbulence. Get to Your Job Search Files: There are so many options that are available to you so that you can access your job search files when not at home. Most of these require some form of advance planning, but not all. Google Docs Google docs is yet another free service offered by Google. You can create, share and store your documents on Google. This includes spreadsheets, documents, presentations and more. You can upload Microsoft Office versions of your files to Google Docs, or create them directly within Google Docs. There are quite a few advantages. For one, you can access your files from any computer that has internet access. You can download the file, attach it to an email and send it. And, you can do this from your smartphone as well. Dropbox You can sync upto 2gb of data for free or up to 100gb if you want to pay. Additionally, you can share files. AND, there are apps for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android. Just load up you resume, cover letters or whatever else you need and have access from any computer or smartphone with internet access. Quickoffice Need to edit files, email your resume from your smartphone or create a document from scratch from your smartphone? Quickoffice is for you. With apps for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Symbian and WebOS, you are all set. You can save the files locally on your phone or in the cloud depending on your smartphone and needs. You simply select the file and email it wherever needed. Prices for apps vary. Check out the website and the apps. Looking for Jobs Remotely: If youre like many people looking for a job, you are not always at your home computer. You need the flexibility to look for a job remotely and the apps below give you that option. LinkUp LinkUp is a job search site (covered in a future post) which also has iPhone, iPad and Android apps which allow you to continue your job search while you are away from your computer. You can enter keywords, location and get your job search tip of the day. Check the results and read the details and apply right from your app. Jobcompass Another job search site (also to be covered in a future post), Jobcompass focuses on finding jobs near you.
